Isabelle de Borchgrave was born in Brussels where she studied at the Centre des Arts Decoratifs and at the Academie Royale. Having completed her studies she wasted no time in developing her talents as a designer creating textiles, ceramics, porcelain and other products for the home.

Soon Isabelle was expanding her talents into other fields, taking on numerous interior decoration projects both in the private and in the commercial sectors in Belgium with work in many private homes, in the Sheraton Hotel and the Theatre du Parc in Brussels as well as in the business class lounges at the Brussels International Airport.

Her creativity can also be seen in the paintings for the well-known Fortuny Bar at the Cipriani Hotel in Venice and in the Venice Simplon Express in London.

In 1994 Isabelle met Rita Brown, a Canadian theatre dress designer. Together they conceived and produced an astonishing collection of dresses in paper known as "Papiers a la Mode" which covers 300 years of the history of fashion. This substantial collection was first shown in France in 1998 and has since travelled all over Europe, the United States and Japan and continues to be exhibited throughout the world.

Isabelle de Borchgrave has remained faithful to Brussels where she lives and where, many years ago she set up her renowned Studio. While devoting a proportion of her time to painting she has now become an authority on design on paper, whether for commercial products, furniture or tableware or for ephemeral creations with a unique individuality.
